The number of teachers who achieved certification in 2015, who will be eligible for the initial $5,000 award in the fall of 2016, is 62. The projected number for new national board certified teachers in 2016 who will be eligible for the initial $5,000 award in the fall of 2017 is zero. The revisions will be complete in 2017 and the potential exists for 400-500 teachers who may achieve National Board Certification in the fall of 2017 and be eligible for the initial $5,000 award in 2018. This data was provided by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. 2016 16.00 Due to the revisions being made to the process to achieve national certification, the projected number of new National Board Certified Teachers has been decreasing since 2014. The number of teachers who achieved certification in 2015, who will be eligible for the initial $5,000 award in the fall of 2016, is 62. The projected number for new national board certified teachers in 2016 who will be eligible for the initial $5,000 award in the fall of 2017 is zero, except for individuals retaking tests. The revisions will be complete in 2017 and the potential exists for 300-500 teachers who may achieve National Board Certification in the fall of 2017 and be eligible for the initial $5,000 award in 2018.
