Data Source and Calculation
These data derive from the application database of SCHEV's Private Postsecondary Education (PPE) unit, which tracks each application from the date it is logged into the database. The measure is calculated by dividing the total number of days between receipt of and response to all applications in a year by the total number of applications received that year.

201784.60The FY2017 result greatly exceeded prior results because the PPE unit committed significant personnel and time to addressing the needs of the thousands of students impacted by the sudden closures of ITT Technical Institute, MedTech College, and Regency Beauty Institute. In calendar year 2017 the agency is undertaking an evaluation of its processes to identify ways to reduce the number of processing days between entities' requests for certification and SCHEV's formal response.
201865.00The agency has experienced a significant increase in applications for certification, as well as student complaints against PPE-certified institutions, since the Trump administration loosened federal rules regarding private education, which has negatively impacted staff's ability to process certification applications in as timely of a manner as desired.
2019Results for FY2019 are being calculated and will be reported in Fall 2019.
