Data Source and Calculation

This measure is calculated using permit-tracking data from the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy’s mineral mining database system. The number of permit decisions made within the time deadlines for the mineral mining permitting program (60 days of in-house time) is compared to total permit decisions due during the review period. These numbers are used to calculate the percentage of timely permit decisions. The percentage for the most recent five years is then averaged to generate the measure.
