This measure utilizes a conversion process adapted from the federal Government Performance and Results Act to ensure all types of abandoned mine land reclamation activities are counted.  This includes reclamation of items such as portals, highwalls, landslide areas, and acid mine drainage but does not include water supply replacement projects.  Continued federal funding for this program is highly uncertain, and as a result the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy cannot predict an increase in reclaimed acres in the future. Results from this measure can vary widely from period to period.
