Data Source and Calculation

The Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy tracks the number of state and local government facilities that have enrolled in demand response programs.  Demand response programs offer incentives to large energy users to reduce or shift their electric demand during periods when total demand is very high.  The Commonwealth benefits from these programs because the overall efficiency of the flow of electricity is increased.  The Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy works with state agencies and public bodies to enter into demand response agreements.
