201528.00Fiscal year 2015 results exceeded projections, and in fact exceeded the short term target for 6/30/2016. R&D CAMEE continues to forge new relationships with industry, equipment manufacturers, and Siemens USA, the latter especially strong because of the SVHEC's designation as a Siemen's Training Center. These relationships and the establishment of the SoVA Center of Manufacturing Excellence at the SVHEC have raised R&D CAMEE's profile among industry partners. The long term target (32) will be re-evaluated after June 30, 2016 and changes will be made if warranted. Note: This is an annual measure; data for fiscal quarters is not available.
201627.00Fiscal year 2016 results, while down 4 percent, still exceeded the previous short term target of 20 for 6/30/2016. R&D CAMEE developed new relationships with wholesale and retail businesses, manufacturers, materials producers, and equipment manufacturers. Many of these new relationships involve consulting and prototyping services. R&D CAMEE also continues to build its relationship with Siemens. R&D CAMEE leadership expects to increase the number of business and industry entities served in the next fiscal year. Note: This is an annual measure; data for fiscal quarters is not available.
201734.00In FY 2017 the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s (SVHEC) Research & Development Center for Advanced Manufacturing & Energy Efficiency (R&D CAMEE) served 34 businesses with consulting, prototyping, and fabrication services. Through R&D CAMEE, the SVHEC continues to build new relationships with wholesale and retail businesses, manufacturers, materials producers, and equipment manufacturers, especially those in advanced manufacturing and energy sectors. In 2017, SVHEC instructional staff completed Siemens Levels 2 and 3 training in Berlin and the SVHEC became the only non-credit provider of Siemens Level 3 training in the world. These relationships and the development of the SoVA Center of Manufacturing Excellence at the SVHEC continue to R&D CAMEE's profile among industry partners. The FY 2017 results exceed the long-term projection and R&D CAMEE leadership expects to number of business and industry entities served to increase over the next biennium. Note: This is an annual measure; data for fiscal quarters is not available.
201841.00In FY 2018 the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s (SVHEC) Research & Development Center for Advanced Manufacturing & Energy Efficiency (R&D CAMEE) served 41 businesses through consulting, prototyping, and fabrication services. This is a 20 percent increase from the previous fiscal year. The SVHEC's R&D CAMEE is currently the only non-credit provider of Siemens Level 3 training in the world. These relationships and the development of the SoVA Center of Manufacturing Excellence at the SVHEC continue to raise R&D CAMEE's profile among industry partners. The FY 2018 results exceed the long-term projection and R&D CAMEE leadership expects to number of business and industry entities served to increase over the next biennium. Note: This is an annual measure; data for fiscal quarters is not available.
201924.00In FY 2019 the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s (SVHEC) Research & Development Center for Advanced Manufacturing & Energy Efficiency (R&D CAMEE) served 24 businesses through consulting, prototyping, and fabrication services. Although the number of clients served decreased from FY 2018, eight were new clients, and the scope-of-work and commitment to four major clients increased significantly. The market sector focus of these four primary clients is diverse and represents large scale manufacturing (Steinway & Son Pianos), inventor/entrepreneur (Topp Line, LLC), academic research institution (VA Tech) and a federal grant (USDA). In addition to serving clients, R&D CAMEE accomplished two additional major milestones in FY 2019. First, the SVHEC contracted with GENEDGE to engage in a comprehensive R&D CAMEE "Mission & Model: Strategic Review." The review used Technology Driven Market Intelligence research to zero-in on a meaningful and manageable domain of problem areas faced by regional small to medium-sized manufacturers (SMEs) and to identify technologies through which R&D CAMEE can offer solutions. Second, the R&D CAMEE machine centers and other tangible assets were relocated to a newly up fitted space on the SVHEC campus. During a six-month period, R&D CAMEE staff coordinated the logistics, sub-contracts and overall project management of this major move.
202018.00In FY 2020 the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s (SVHEC) Research & Development Center for Advanced Manufacturing & Energy Efficiency (R&D CAMEE) served 18 businesses through consulting, prototyping, and fabrication services. While the overall number served decreased from FY 2019 in large part due to suspension of operations during the COVID 19 pandemic, R&D CAMEE served eleven new clients and significantly increased the scope-of-work and commitment to several major clients. R&D CAMEE also continues to build its relationship with Siemens as a Siemen's GO PLM Training Center. R&D CAMEE leadership expects to number of business and industry entities served to increase in fiscal year 2021. Note: This is an annual measure; data for fiscal quarters is not available.
202120.00In fall 2020, the Southern Virginia Higher Education Center’s (SVHEC) Research & Development Center for Advanced Manufacturing & Energy Efficiency (R&D CAMEE) became ProductWorks@SVHEC, the Commonwealth's only single source location for product design and development services. Continuing its commitment to regional business and industry, ProductWorks@SVHEC served 20 companies in FY 2021, providing consulting, and advanced manufacturing protoyping and small production services. While the overall number served decreased from FY 2019, in large part due to suspension of operations during the COVID 19 pandemic, ProductWorks@SVHEC served eleven new clients in FY 2021 and expects to increase the number of businesses served in FY 2022. Note: This is an annual measure; data for fiscal quarters is not available.
202215.00In FY 2022 ProductWorks@SVHEC provided 15 regional businesses with product design, development, and production services. ProductWorks@SVHEC (formerly known as the R&D Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Energy Efficiency) is the region’s manufacturing resource for product design, development, prototyping and small production runs. While the number of businesses served decreased year-to-date, in FY 2022 ProductWorks@SVHEC brought in five new clients and significantly increased the scope-of-work and commitment to several existing clients. ProductWorks@SVHEC’s longstanding clients include an international transformer manufacturer with facilities in Halifax County for which ProductWorks@SVHEC designs and produces machine components, the Virginia Department of Forestry, and a regional metallurgical foundry associated with Virginia Tech. ProductWorks@SVHEC leadership expects to number of business and industry entities served to increase in fiscal year 2023. Note: This is an annual measure; data for fiscal quarters is not available.
202345.00In FY 2023, ProductWorks@SVHEC served a record number of clients with consulting, advanced manufacturing protoyping, and small production services. Staffing changes brought a restructuring of ProductWorks system to market to and serve clients. ProductWorks also strengthened relationships with two of Halifax County's largest manufacturers: Hitachi Energy and Presto Products. Hitachi engineers now come to ProductWorks for production solutions and are partnering with the SVHEC for community outreach events. ProductWorks provided Presto with engineered parts to move a production line from entirely manually operated to semi-automated. ProductWorks@SVHEC is approved as a Technical Assessment vendor by GENEDGE Alliance and is under contract to serve a client in the northern Virginia data center sector. In FY 2023 ProductWorks completed an assessment project to design an improved fuel delivery management system for that client. ProductWorks leadership expects the number of business and industry entities served to increase in fiscal year 2024. Note: This is an annual measure; data for fiscal quarters is not available.
