Fund codes are elements of Virginia's chart of accounts and are managed by the Department of Accounts. Fund codes are used extensively thoughout Virginia's budgeting and accounting activities.

A fund detail code is a 5 digit code. Prior to 2016 it was 4 digits. The first 2 digits is called the fund code or more specifically the fund group code. Example: 01 - General Fund. The fund groups do not vary among different agencies. For example, 01 - General Fund is the same for all agencies. Fund detail codes used to vary by agency. For example: 0211 refered to "Collection Fees" for the Department of Taxation and "Private Grant and Contract Revenue" for the Department of Health. With the expansion to 5 digits an effort has been made to make the code unique across agencies.

Hints and Tips

• You can open the "Filter" and choose some additional fields including Fund Group.
• Try typing in a short string like "trust" in the Fund Name filter and resubmitting the report. You will get any Fund that has that string anywhere in the title. The other column filters work the same way.
• You can resort the table by clicking on any of the column names.
