Agency Narrative

Agency Description Funding currently appropriated and authorized by Title 60.2 Chapter 3.05, Code of Virginia in support of Unemployment Compensation. Modernization of the Unemployment Insurance system, as an upgrade to obsolete information technology systems as appropriated in Item 123 C. of Chapter 854, 2019 Acts of Assembly, is scheduled to be completed prior to the end of fiscal year ending June 30, 2021. As a result, the appropriation has been reduced to reflect the anticipated reduction in expenses in the fiscal year following the completion of the project.

Consequences of not funding/Justification The appropriation for Fund 7010 Program 47002 will remain available but will not be used.

Alternatives considered (must list at least one) Do nothing. This would leave budget funding in Chapter 3 that will not be utilized.

Explanations and Methodologies To remove appropriation in excess of anticipated expense for UI Modernization.
