Data Source and Calculation
Maneuver Training Center Fort Pickett is a 41,000+ acre military training installation that is operated by the Virginia National Guard to support Maneuver Training for the full spectrum of operations. It is an excellent venue to support training requirements for Armor, Field Artillery and Infantry units. The installation consists of 1.5 million square feet of building infrastructure, mounted maneuver corridors, an Urban Collective Training Facility with Urban Assault Course, Breach House and Shoothouse, a Multi-Purpose Range Complex, Infantry Platoon Battle Course and other ranges that support military and civilian training. Collective Training Center Camp Pendleton (State Military Reservation) is a satellite of MTC Fort Pickett. It's focus is small unit training which it supports with numerous buildings used for classroom training; Virtual training aids and maneuver space for dismounted training. It is also home to the Virginia Beach Readiness Center, the Virginia Commonwealth Challenge Program, and the Virginia Air National Guard 203rd Red Horse. The data presented is derived by computing the total number of “mandays”(1 Soldier training for 1 day = 1 manday, 1 Soldier training for 5 days=5 mandays) at Fort Pickett and Camp Pendleton.
